“Midwifery led maternity care center opening ceremony in Ahmad shah Baba Meena Arzan Qimat” The Afghan Midwives Association continues its useful activities for the health of mothers and newborns in Afghanistan, now with the financial support of the JHPIEGO office, under the UHI project was opened the Midwifery led Care Center at Ahmad Shah Baba Mina Hospital.
A midwifery model of care assumes that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. It is a woman-centered approach based on the belief that continuity of care in monitoring the physical, psychological, spiritual and social wellbeing of the woman and family throughout the childbearing cycle is critically important. A midwifery model of care provides the woman with individualized education, counseling and antenatal care; continuous attendance during labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period and ongoing support during the postnatal period.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the JHPIEGO office, Mula Imams, community elders, the leadership of the Afghan Midwives Association, a representative of the Department of Public Health, the director of Ahmad Shah Baba Hospital and the hospital’s health staff.
